A few years ago I came across a very talented make up artist named Kim Goodwin. He does the make up of Sharon Stone, Elizabeth Taylor and some more great stars.
He is also very gifted in transforming Franklin Mint vinyl dolls into more perfect Marilyn Monroe dolls.

I was trying to see if I could get into contact with mister Goodwin because I think it would be really interesting to interview him for the website about his love for Marilyn and his dolls. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a way to contact him. If anyone else does know a way, please let me know!

Finally, after months, I got one! I ordered one a long time ago, but it never arrived.
It’s a Barbie as Marilyn Monroe, so it doesn’t look as much as Marilyn as the previous ‘Happy Birthday’-doll and ‘How to Marry a Millionaire’-doll, but the dress and little elements are great! I love the dress, it looks very like the original. I don’t think the original dress was this gold like but it’s still pretty close in my opinion.

I’ve noticed that my doll has other earrings than she has on the website. I’m curious whether your Blonde Ambition doll has the round earrings too?

I own the Happy Birthday doll and How To Marry A Millionaire doll.

As I was surfing the web, I came across the news that Mattel will be releasing yet another Marilyn Monroe doll, which can be found here (fourth row, first doll).
It’s a beautiful doll with the famous gold lame dress. It’s not the kind of doll that was produced a few years ago, which was Barbie with a Monroe dress on. No, this one actually resembles Marilyn. The doll is created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Mattel and is part of the Blonde Ambition Collection.

If you’re interested in owning a doll, please make sure to keep an eye on the Mattel website as the doll will be released somewhere in March 2009.
