Marilyn’s photographer Joseph Jasgur died

Marilyn Monroe with Joseph Jasgur I just read the news that photographer Joe Jasgur passed away. It’s sad to see that everyone who was in contact with Marilyn slowly moves to the other side… I am fortunate enough to own an original picture of Jasgur and he signed it too. I feel very fortunate to own that bit.

This is what the The Orlando Sentinal writes about it:

Tony Curtis changes his mind about kissing Marilyn

Tony Curtis greets Marilyn at the Some Like It Hot premiere I was always a bit bothered when I read, years ago, that Tony Curtis said that kissing Marilyn was like kissing Hitler. I thought it was very unproffesional. But now it turns out he regrets saying that, as you can read in the following article. The thing that bothers me now is how he did a 180. Now he says he was arroused by Marilyn. Why? I still think it’s unproffesional. You just don’t say that you were arroused by your collegue.

New Marilyn doll by Mattel

I’m not much of a Marilyn doll collector, but I do own the 2 dolls produced by Mattel. I own the Happy Birthday doll and How To Marry A Millionaire doll.

As I was surfing the web, I came across the news that Mattel will be releasing yet another Marilyn Monroe doll, which can be found here (fourth row, first doll).
It’s a beautiful doll with the famous gold lame dress. It’s not the kind of doll that was produced a few years ago, which was Barbie with a Monroe dress on. No, this one actually resembles Marilyn. The doll is created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Mattel and is part of the Blonde Ambition Collection.

If you’re interested in owning a doll, please make sure to keep an eye on the Mattel website as the doll will be released somewhere in March 2009.

Back with an article

Dear visitors, I know I have been absent lately. I’ve gone through some things lately which forced me to leave the internet for some time. I have moved and had an accident, but I’m back although not completely better.

I do bring you a great article from Vanity Fair. Recently, two cabinets, filled with documents once owned by Marilyn were found. Vanity Fair has published a wonderful article on this matter and I encourage everyone to read it. It can be found here.
Look at those lovely pictures! I love these indepth articles on Marilyn. It gives us a sneak peak at her personal life.

A link to a video about the article: here.

And also the interesting article The Things She Left Behind:

The tragic 1962 overdose … two filing cabinets holding many of her secrets: keys to the mystery that was Marilyn Monroe. As her estate battles for control of her image, the author describes the cache’s revelations—papers, furs, jewelry, and other items—which have cast a spell over several people, including photographer Mark Anderson, who spent more than two years documenting the disputed collection. Related: “The Marilyn Files,” more than 500 images from Anderson’s archives. Read more at Vanity Fair.

I have ordered a copy of the magazine online. It will probably arrive sometime next month. I will scan some bits and pieces of it, for you to watch.

More behind the scenes footage of Marilyn!

Earlier this year I got totally excited because some rare footage of Marilyn footage showed up during filming The Misfits. Now, then you might understand when I did a happy dance when I read the following news below.
I’m still a bit disappointed though that we didn’t get to see much of the rare footage of The Misfits. Let’s hope we get to see some of this!

Marilyn’s clothing line

I don’t need to tell anyone that Marilyn was a revolutionairy style icon back in the day. But it might just be that she will be that again starting in spring 2009.

Shaw Archives, who has copyrights over about 400 images of Marilyn, has signed a deal with Blues Clothing. I just checked out their website and found clothing with Sesamestreet characters on it. Don’t know what to think of that :S
I sure hope they’re going to take this seriously, because if they do, they could book some great succes. Personally, I hope they will make casual clothing, like sweaters, jeans, etc. I would love to look a bit like a casual Marilyn!

Unseen on The Misfits set

I’m pretty sure almost every fan has seen it by now: the newly discovered footage of Marilyn on the set of The Misfits. But because MarilynFan.org was offline I didn’t have the chance to post about it.

I’ve seen the footage and I must say: it’s amazing. I’m always beyond excited when ‘new’ Marilyn footage or audio is discovered so this couldn’t please me more. The footage shows Marilyn on the set, with her co-stars.

This 47-minutes film will go on auction on June 22 at Christie’s at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas., with bids starting between $10,000 and $20,0000.
The film was shot by amateur photographer Stanley Floyd Kilarr.
