Past layouts

Version 12
Online from October 2009 – ?

This version of MarilynFan.org is based on a picture of Milton Greene. I have to admit, these are my favorite sessions of Marilyn. The content has been adjusted and the complete website is now running on WordPress.
The layout has soft colors so it’s easy on the eyes. Also, the photo gallery is integrated within the website.

Version 11
Online from October 2008 – September 2009

In this layout I used a photo by Sam Shaw. It was around the time that Marilyn lived in New York and she seemed so happy in these photographs. This was the first version based on WordPress, which was easier to update. Unfortunately, it came online during a time I was very busy with my new job, so I couldn’t update as much as I wanted to.

Version 10
Online from October 23, 2007 – current

A new color, such a suprise :) I used orange instead of pink in this layout, which is something I rarely do. The theme is ‘The Misfits’, Marilyn’s last completed movie. The main image changed with every section you clicked.
The idea and inspiration for this layout came when I got the book ‘The Misfits’ by Serge Toubiana. It’s packed with gorgeous behind the scenes images and beautiful text. I highly recommend this book!

Version 9
Online from August 4, 2007 – October 23, 2007

I had new content for the fansite and I wanted a new layout to go along with it. I also wanted a more modern look on the fansite, so I added some shadows and gradients.

Version 8
Online from February 6, 2007 – August 4, 2007

A bright layout with pink again! The picture in the layout is by Cecil Beaton. There’s not much to say about this layout, it didn’t have any special tricks or something like that :) This layout has been online for the longest time in Marilyn Fan history: 6 months.

Version 7
Online from October 7, 2006 – February 6, 2007

I was going for a dark, winter theme with this layout. I’ve always used pink in the layouts but this time I used only black, grey tints and aquablue. The layout contained pictures of the Bert Stern shoot, right before her death. I was very content with it but after a couple of months I thought it was time for something more bright.

Version 6
Online from july 4, 2006 – october 7, 2006

MarilynFan.org had been offline for a while and I started with a fresh new layout, containing candid pictures of a happy Marilyn. I was playing around with shapes, like circles and blocks to create a playful screen.

Version 5
Online from march 18, 2006 – june 1, 2006

I’ve always wanted to use candid pictures of Marilyn in a layout. So I did that with this one. The header was changing every time the page was reloaded, so that was nice aspect. I used pink again on purpose. By this time I thought I would use pink in every layout, so people would recognize it.

Version 4
Online from november 2, 2005 – march 18, 2006

I think this was a completely different style, compared to my previous layouts. I tried to make something simple, but elegant. Not too many things on the screen, but a good overview. It even had moving images, yay! Pictures I used are made by the wonderful Milton H. Greene. I used it for the guestbook and gallery too.

Version 3
Online from july 1, 2005 – november 2, 2005

So this is the result. I used pictures from Halsman wich is a very known photoshoot. Marilyn did it for Life Magazine at that time. I was really happy with it and I still am. I think I was getting better at making layouts.

Version 2
Online: never

I was working my ass off for the new layout and after a couple of days I got it finished. I showed it to my boyfriend and he didn’t like it AT ALL. So I was thinking: is this a good layout? I asked my friend Mels and she thought things could change a little. So, I started over again. Result? Layout number 3 :) .

Version 1
Online from may 15, 2005 – july 1, 2005

This was the first layout I did after I bought the domain. I worked real hard on it, I remember spending several days on it. But after 2 weeks since it was online, I was already tired of it. So then I made the second version.

Can you still remember the old ones? :) (2003-2005)
